The market in the Chicago, given the current supply is fairly well balanced. The
areas north of the city are difficult! The parking availability for residential
parking for both off-street and on-street parking is extremely competitive and
scare. Most areas in the Lake View and Lincoln Park require parking permits and
temporary passes to park in the residential areas.
The downtown and Loop areas in Chicago have ample parking. There are numerous daily specials to attract
business travelers. The “Early Bird” specials are offered by most garages.
Outdoor lots are a good value for the non-winter months, typically five dollars
less than the typical daily rate with indoor parking. There are many
strategically located garages along within the loop however parking on the “Mag
Mile” is a bit tricky. Some garages are located on one-way streets and
navigation for visitor could get tricky, especially on a crowed weekend day
where pedestrians make turning on these one-way streets challenging.
